Salât al-Munjiyah – Salâten Tunjinâ
Known among the people as “Tunjinâ” due to the inclusion of the word “tunjinâ” in it, Salât al-Munjiyah is one of the most impactful prayers. It is recommended to recite this prayer after obligatory prayers, during times of fear, or in the face of calamities. It is a salutation that can be recited individually or as part of a litany performed 1,000 times. Salât al-Munjiyah (Arabic Text)
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍٍ وَعَلَى آلِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍٍ، صَلَاَةً تُنْجِيْنَا بِهَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ الأَهْوَالِ وَالآفَاتِ، وَتَقْضِي لَنَا بِهَا جَمِيعَ الحَاجَاتِ، وَتُطَهِّرُنَا بِهَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ السَّيِّئَاتِ، وَتَرْفَعُنَا بِهَا عِنْدَكَ أَعْلَى الدَّرَجَاتِ، وَتُبَلِّغُنَا بِهَا أَقْصَى الغَايَاتِ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الخَيْرَاتِ فِي الحَيَاةِ وَبَعْدَ المَمَاتِ، إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ.
Salât al-Munjiyah (Transliteration)
Allâhumma salli ‘alâ sayyidinâ Muhammad wa ‘alâ âli sayyidinâ Muhammad, salâten tunjînâ bihâ min jamî’il ahwâli wal âfât, wa taqdî lanâ bihâ jamî’al hâjât, wa tutahhirunâ bihâ min jamî’is-sayyi’ât, wa tarfa’unâ bihâ ‘indaka a‘la’d-darajât, wa tuballighunâ bihâ aqsa’l-ghâyât, min jamî’il khayrâti fi’l-hayâti wa ba‘da’l-mamât, innaka ‘alâ kulli shay’in qadîr.
The Meaning of Salât al-Munjiyah
“O Allah! Send Your blessings upon our Master Muhammad and upon the family of our Master Muhammad. A blessing that, through it, saves us from all fears and calamities, fulfills all our needs, purifies us from all sins, elevates us to the highest ranks in Your presence, and conveys us to the ultimate goals of all goodness in life and after death. Truly, You have power over all things.”
When reciting these prayers, it is also advised to make the intention: “O Lord, preserve me, my family, and all believers from the calamities of the earth and sky, and from all forms of trials and tribulations.”
