Prayer for Toothache Relief
Tooth pain typically arises from medical causes such as cavities, gum inflammation, or other dental issues. However, when circumstances limit access to care, or if one seeks additional spiritual support, there are narrations (hadith) indicating that certain prayers recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) can help provide relief.
Recommended Prayer for Toothache
One such prayer is believed to be beneficial for toothache:
Arabic Text:
إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ
فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
Transliteration (Latin letters):
Innemâ emruhâ izâ erâde şey’en en yekule lehü kün feyekûn.
Fe sübhânellezî bi yedihî melekûtu küllî şey’in ve ileyhi turce‘ûn.
Meaning (English):
“His command, when He intends anything, is only to say to it, ‘Be,’ and it is. So glory be to Him in Whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to Him you will be returned.”
(Yā Sīn 36:82-83)
Using the Final Verse of Sūrat Yā Sīn for Toothache
According to certain narrations, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised placing one’s index finger on the aching tooth and reciting the final verse of Sūrat Yā Sīn. This reading may be repeated 7, 11, or 21 times. If done with sincere intention, it is said to alleviate toothache by God’s permission.
