What is the Purpose of the Rabbi Yassir Dua?

Rabbi Yassir Dua – Recommended Daily Supplication
Arabic Text:
رَبِّ يَسِّرْ وَلَا تُعَسِّرْ رَبِّ تَمِّمْ بِالْخَيْرِ
Transliteration: Rabbi yassir wa la tu’assir Rabbi tammim bil-khayr.
Meaning: “My Lord! Make my tasks easy, do not make them difficult. My Lord, conclude my affairs with goodness. Amen!”
Extended Version of the Rabbi Yassir Dua
There is also a longer version of this supplication, which is not as well-known as the short one. Its transliteration and meaning are as follows:
Arabic Text:
رَبِّ يَسِّرْ وَلَا تُعَسِّرْ سَهِّلْ عَلَيْنَا بِفَضْلِكَ يَا مُيَسِّرُ رَبِّ زِدْنَا عِلْمًا وَفَهْمًا نَافِعًا وَتَمِّمْ بِالْخَيْرِ
Transliteration: Rabbi yassir wa la tu’assir, sahhil alayna bi fadhlika ya muyassir, Rabbi zidna ilman wa fahman nafi’an, wa tammim bil khayr.
Meaning: “O Allah, without Your infinite mercy and assistance, I cannot accomplish this task. O Allah, do not make my righteous tasks difficult, make them easy. Increase my knowledge so that my work benefits me and those around me, and conclude my affairs in the best way.”
Is This Dua an Ayah (Verse)?
This supplication is not a verse from the Qur’an. It is a dua recommended by pious scholars. It is a supplication recited before starting an endeavor to facilitate one’s tasks, bringing spiritual relief and tranquility when recited. In a way, it is similar to reciting Bismillah, as it is also a means of seeking help from Allah.
Another Dua for the Ease of Difficult Tasks

Arabic Text:
رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ
Transliteration: Rabbanaftah baynana wa bayna qawmana bil-haqqi wa anta khayrul fatihin.
Meaning: “O our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the best of those who judge!”
